About Us

RDP is located in Lancaster Pennsylvania, and just a stones throw from major routes 83, 283, 30, 322, 76, and 81.  It is owned by Scott and Joy Schwanger.  Scott, of course, is the talent, and Joy takes care of the accounting.  RDP came about in 2004 because of our passion for speed, and Scott’s ability to make big horse power in diesels and still stick to a budget!  In his 40 plus years Scott has owned and worked on many Mopars, Fords and GM’s.  He would tell you if he still owned some of the cars he junked back in the day he would now be a very rich man!  Scott always seemed to have a natural gift when it came to working on anything mechanical.  He spent many years working under everyone else’s hoods, so opening his own diesel performance shop was a logical step for him.

First Impressions

When I first met Scott I had a Mustang GT.  I had so many people telling me I needed to throw on this part and that part, but when I spoke to Scott I was immediately impressed by his knowledge.  He told me everything needs to be done in a pattern.  What was the sense of putting more fuel to something if it was starving for air?  What good is a wild motor is you can’t get the power to the ground and keep it together?  Now, that might be Mechanics 101, but no one else was telling me about the cause and effect of doing things in a pattern and doing them right the first time.  This not only saved me countless headaches, but money as well.  He has taken that philosophy with him to RDP.

Stock or Not- That is the Question

Scott bought his first diesel in 2001.  I thought “now this is a vehicle he will let stock.”  It took about 3 months for stock to turn into not!  It started first with exhaust.  That was only natural since Scott built custom exhaust systems.  It then progressed to fueling boxes, air intakes, injectors, fuel pump systems, clutches, twins turbos, and head work.  Now, as I stated before, you have 2 people who love speed but still must maintain a budget.  Scott proves time and time again that you can do it.  His truck was built on a budget, it is a daily driver, and it spins the dyno at just shy of 600 horse.  This is not a twin turbo kit, this is a home built system, and it keeps pace in the dyno numbers to those big dollar/ big company kits.

Final Thoughts

Don’t be fooled by some company’s promises of this horse power and that horse power.  Dyno’s don’t lie~ people do.  Know what you are buying and who you are buying it from.  Power isn’t cheap, so don’t do it twice!  Scott will only recommend products he is sure you will be getting the most out of for your buck.   We pride ourselves on not only being knowledgeable about diesel trucks and the parts we sell, but our customer service can’t be beat.  What other company can you call at 8:30 on a Sunday night and get answers to your questions?  And, finally, we have finished off our diesel performance shop by teaming up with the leaders in the diesel performance parts industry, so you can be assured you will get the best when you come to RDP.
